On behalf of Milford Elementary School, Phyllis Boller, Principal, accepted a gift card from Buz Bruzina, President of the JC Breakfast Optimist Club as a donation for student clothing. The gift card will be used to purchase clothes for students who might at some period of time need to change while still at school. Nurses in USD 475 often store these extra “emergency” clothes in their offices throughout the year. Some past donations have come in the form clothing or gift cards.
Other schools in the district have received similar donations from a private donor.
Mrs. Boller told the Optimist Club that she was grateful for the gift and expressed “what a wonderful caring community we live in!” Though many student needs are accommodated through the overall district budget process the collaboration with the surrounding community is one-way students can learn how important it is to be compassionate toward others and become involved in one’s community.
